Friday January 16 was the deadline for individual Legislators to submit proposed Bills to the General Assembly. Currently we are monitoring 120 Proposed Bills and expect that list to grow some more. In early February the deadline for Committee Bills to be written will add more Bills to our list….and then the real work begins!!
CTPOA in actively involved with four Bills so far. We have submitted two proposals for Legislation this year, our first proposal is to give “First offender status” to Fair Housing Violations that are minor, the second is to remove both property owners and cities from the burden and expense of transporting and storing evicted tenants possessions. There is a third Bill we have been asked to help pass, that proposal deals with the costs associated with displaced tenants and we are involved with a fourth bill on Bedbugs….More to follow
