After Mayor Manuel Santos used his line-item veto power to eliminate Federal Funds to pay for inspector’s salaries for their Certificate of Compliance Program. The City Council overturned his veto and instead decided to look into the program and make proposals to improve the program or consider repeal.
CTPOA will have representation on this Task Force and we will hope to create a process that is either better for taxpayers or eliminate the 34 year old program many claim outlived its usefulness and is an extra step of bureaucracy in doing business in the “Silver City,” a report is due out by the end of summer.
